Sinead Mc Cormick is an emerging Visual Artist living on Sherkin Island off the west coast of Cork, Ireland. In 2022 she completed an M.A. in Art and Environment, delivered on islands in the West Cork archipelago. In 2020 she graduated with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Visual Art from TU Dublin, while also being awarded Dublin School of Creative Arts Student of The Year.
Mc Cormick uses a variety of media in her practice, primarily focusing on the creation of sculptural forms and site-specific installations which often integrate alternative technologies, sonic experimentations and organic material. While she has developed substantial work around the politics of migration and Island studies, her background in horticulture has consistently attuned her to environmental concerns. Experimentation in the making process is fundamental to the creation of her works and it is this constant flow between the research and making which informs her artistic practice.
