As The Tide Goes In And Out

a1-montage-home

While ‘deep mapping’ my home environment, I found it difficult to decide where exactly my home was. After living with my daughter in Barcelona for over 15 years I returned home to look after my terminally ill father. Since then I have been living a nomadic lifestyle. And when I thought about home, it felt wrong to just ‘deep map’ the physical aspects without including the people who made home ‘home’.  This montage is based on Rebecca Horn’s ‘L’Estel Ferit’ (The Wounded Shooting Star), more commonly referred to as ‘Los Cubos’ (The Cubes) by locals of Barcelona. The sculpture relates well to how things have been over the past two years- precariously balancing different aspects of my life and my loved ones.
